Celebrating the Fourth of July in Miami

Last year, my roommate and I made the most of a quarantined Fourth of July. We barbecued (read: Cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on our stove because we couldn’t figure out how to work the grills on our building’s pool deck) and ate and drank on our balcony watching fireworks go off all around the city. And while that was a fun, chill Fourth of July, I’m definitely ready to day drink with a group of friends again. Not everyone is rejoining in the festivities, however. Both Bayfront Park and the Biltmore Hotel have canceled their iconic firework shows again. Miami Beach and other municipalities have canceled their firework displays in solidarity with the victims and affected families of Surfside. Here’s a roundup of places in Miami that are celebrating the Fourth.

American Social
Where better to celebrate America than American Social? They have extended their weekend brunch in honor of the occasion and are also launching a new, festive specialty cocktail.

Calle 23
Celebrate Independence Day the Cuban way at Calle 23. Enjoy bottomless brunch from noon to 4 p.m., happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. and five for $25 beers all day long.

Kiki on the River
Kiki on the River is celebrating with a special red, white and blue drink available only on July 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. The firecracker cocktail is made with Ketel One peach and orange blossom, Cointreau liqueur, lime juice and agave.

Moxy South Beach
One of the newest hotels in Miami is joining in on the Fourth of July fun. They’ll have drink specials like the red, white and booze punch, and food specials like a Sonoran-style hot dog, a charcoal grilled burger and corn on the cob. Round out the night with a firework display at 9 p.m.

Nikki Beach
A Fourth of July hotspot, Nikki Beach brings the Hamptons Miami with a seafood boil complete with crab legs, clams, crawfish and more for $55 per person from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Lobster is available for an additional $30. There will also be a firework show starting at 9 p.m.

Riverside
Riverside is throwing a July 4th weekend cook out on Saturday and Sunday. Imbibe your way through the weekend at one (or all) of their many bars and food stands. Open at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and noon on Sundays.

The Wharf
One of the best spots to day drink, The Wharf has festive specials all weekend long. On Friday, there is a themed red, wine and brew happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring $1 Wharf lagers and $3 wines by the glass. On Saturday, Only in Dade is taking over for an Only in America party with giveaways and red, white and blue cocktails. From noon to 4 p.m., bottles of Côtes de Provence rosé are just $25. And on Sunday, there will be live music, drink specials, and, of course, red, white and blue cocktails.
